Professional Development
I have an insatiable love of learning and a highly-inquisitive mind that always asks questions and attempts to realize the truth of what is going on in the world. There are very few subject matters that bore me. This translates to a continuous commitment to personal, professional, and career development. I am currently working on some of the following areas of learning new skills and refreshing old skills.
Project Management
I am currently finishing studying and preparation for the CompTIA Project+ certification. I have gained a lot of additional knowledge about project management as a formal discipline in the process of this preparation. I feel that I would be an excellent candidate for a junior level project manager or information technology project manager due to this level of preparation. Once I have completed the CompTIA Project+ certification, I hope to pursue certification through The Project Management Institute, first in the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification and later as a Project Management Professional (PMP) upon the completion of additional professional project management hours.
Data Science
In mid-May 2020, I completed the IBM Data Science Professional Certificate program. This certificate was completed within three months time. In this program I refreshed my knowledge on a number of analysis techniques I learned as a graduate student in my marketing analytics coursework. I gained a greater knowledge of SQL using IBM DB2 and learned to code in Python and utilize popular libraries such as pandas, numpy, matplotlib, and scikit-learn. This program gave me formal exposure to artificial intelligence, machine learning, and use of many different APIs. I hope to use this certificate program as a starting point for additional research and development in these areas. As part of my coursework, I have posted samples of work to my Github. Front-End Web Development
As part of the development of this website, I have re-established my love of web development, especially in front-end and UI/UX development. I have professional experience in web development as a full-stack developer, primarily in LAMP environments. I am constantly learning new technologies and design concepts in order to improve my overall skills in this area. As an example, I learned a number of responsive design techniques to help designs scale across a wide array of devices and browsers. Also I have started learning the Bootstrap CSS Framework and have begun incorporating these elements in this site's updates and re-development initiatives.
